Appearance: Clear brick red with a creamy vanilla ice cream-colored head. Fair retention and spotty lacing.
Smell: Nutty, lightly caramelized malts with mild corny undertones. Light hop character lends a bit of spice and some floral esters. A very "red lager" aroma, meaning that it's well-balanced and somewhat shallow.
Taste: Predominantly dry with nutty, grainy malts that provide a solid backbone, sweet but not cloying. Hops are fresh, floral, and lightly fruity with a somewhat resinous hop bitterness. Nice, easy drinkin'.
Mouthfeel: Creamy and satiny soft, slightly sparkly with a clean, crisp finish.
Drinkability: This beer was boring at first, but it did grow on my as I sipped it. The hops are nice and become more prevalent as the beer warms. Overall, a pretty decent stab at the style.
