Appearance: Clever-looking brickish amber sienna orange. Fluffy ivory off-white head is tall and creamy with excellent retention and leaves smooth striations of lace.
Smell: Piney-spicy hops, peppery and lightly estery, with mild but rich and sweet caramel malts. Light fruity notes of grape juice.
Taste: Bitter, fresh, and lupulic with a berry sweetness and syrupy, dextrinous malt base in a well-executed balance. Finish turns nutty before turning earthy, bitter, and dry with hops, lingering nicely on the palate.
Mouthfeel: Mouth-filling and chewy, medium-bodied with a remarkably clean finish, considering the fairly robust flavor.
Drinkability: This is an easy sipper; not too complex and actually not terribly different from their regular pale ale... in fact, it sort of just seems like the exact same beer, but with a touch more hops. In that sense, it's a bit of a disappointment, but it's still tasty and refreshing.
