Tart, fruity and a bit funky. Aged two years, Touch of Blue Belgian-style lambic is made with whole blueberries. We fermented our base ale with a Belgian yeast culture and bacteria strains to produce tart flavors, fruity notes and a bit of funk. Then we aged the beer with whole blueberries until it expressed dark fruit and floral aromas. The result: a balanced, flavorful lambic with a compelling sour finish. Great now, as good or better after extended aging. Get it while you can. This is a one time beer. Fall 2017.

they call this one a lambic, and im not going to dispute the process at all here, but dont come into this one expecting belgian old worldy lambic, instead this is a sweeter type, easily as fruit driven as yeast driven, and with a lot less maturity and complexity, although its quite tasty. it pours a purple shiny pink color, deeply colored by the blueberries, which are apparently added whole. i get fruit vinegar and red wine on the nose, the blueberries are both concentrated like preserves and also kind of tart and summery, natural for sure and highly dosed, but i smell less wood, aged hops, and bretty ambient funk than i like in beer called lambic, no matter where it comes from. we like the fruitiness in the flavor a lot, and the acidity is right here, bacterial and pretty complex, moreso than kettle sour types usually yield, this seems to be wild fermented anyway. vinegar and sharp fruity tannins, tired oak, and a little weird cheesiness when it warms. more sugar than it needs, but the higher alcohol is a non factor, it cant be smelled or tasted here at all. more carbonation would help this, its a little flat from the bottle, but i think the flavors are pretty good, and when i accept this as its own entity instead of a failed attempt at cantillon or something, i like it rather well. worth a try...
