Poured from bottle. Beautiful cream colored head. Dark ruby/brown color. Great head retention. Hints of chocolate, and dark crystal malts. Slight warming of alcohol in the mouth. Really nice beer that's very balanced

Growler filled last night at the taproom from the first keg. Poured into a SN 30th Anniversary tulip. Dark red to brown with Garnet highlights, very clear. Thin tan head, but could be from the growler, the pour last night was thicker. Legs and spotty lacing.
Walnut skins, toffee, and a hint of prunes pop on the nose. Toffee and sweet breads, mild herbal hop notes. Sweetness and soft alcohol dominate the aroma.
The sweetness of the nose strikes again , but there is enough bitterness to balance w/o being assertive. Prunes, mild raisin notes. Alcohol is soft and smooth, integrated a little too well. Doesn't drink like a 9% beer. Touch of toasted malts.
Sits slightly heavy on the tongue, but not too thick. Sweet, but the bitterness keeps it from being cloying. Finish is a little flabby.
Good beer, warms on a cold night. First time this brew was made, could use a few tweeks. The mild dark fruits and sweet toasty malts work well.
