Pint first, then growler fill at Isaac Newton's in Newtown, PA during Ninkasi takeover. Happily surprised I could take more of this to go. Nice hop forward IPA from their R&D series. Looking forward to further availability of Ninkasi in the mid-Atlantic!

to me its pretty obvious that this is what ninkasi does best, the hoppy stuff, and even better than that the big hoppy stuff. this is really nice from the tap down at spruce on blake street. very pale in complexion, but also very heady. no caramel malts in any significant proportion weighing this one down, and an aroma of piney hops from the northwest. its not overly complex, but its not dumbed down either, its not intense, but not exactly elegant, sort of middling on a lot of spectra, except those that matter most, taste and quality. love the pine, but its not so heavy, not floor cleaner pine, but relaxed pine, dry pine maybe, and its still juicy, not sacrificing one for the other. the light grain base is appealing because it lets this come through more. the abv is right on point for me in this style, and carbonation is robust enough to make it refreshing. maybe not a gold medal worthy beer, i dont think its different enough for that, but something pretty nice to slug on for awhile. i wish we got more quality northwest hoppy beer here in colorado, it seems to be a void in our local beer scene, at least on the scale i would like to see. well done all up, except i think there are a million beers with this same name...
