Clear pale gold. Strong rye notes on the taste and smell reminds me of a sandwich. The kinda of obscures the hop notes. Hop notes are a bit piney. Overall, worth trying because of its unique notes bit hard to drink after a few.

Sorry, but this is just flat out awful. The beer smells OK (nice citrus, pepper and just a hint of caraway and rye), but on the palate, the caraway and rye is just overwhelming, and it ended up tasting like a licorice sandwich, one that did not blend well with the citrus flavors. I was wondering if it was just me, but the two bartenders acknowledged that my reaction was pretty much typical.

Doesn't look like this latest experiment is going to be much of a success for Ninkasi.

From NinkasiBrewing.com: Did someone order a hopstrami sandwich? This classic IPA is brewed with rye and conditioned on 68 pounds of caraway seed. The use of rye gives this beer a slight peppery taste, followed by hints of mint and fennel from the caraway. Both ingredients work together to dry out the finish and intensify the hop profile. L’chaim!
