this is a miss from ninkasi, one of their first forays into the sour realm, and its definitely back to the drawing boards on it. lots of issues here. meant to be a blackberry sour, it smells like feet and bile, and really isnt very good. not sure how they missed with the yeast so bad, but they did. too warm maybe? too big of a pitch? too long on the hot side? tough saying, but this is amateur as they come. i like the deep pink color to it, obviously there is a ton of fruit in here it also has a nice fresh blackberry sweetness in the middle, and you can really taste the fruit, so that aspect isnt the issue at all. sweaty gym socks and throw up on the nose of this, from the yeast, and its unforgivable. i can get past it after a few sips because the flavor is better than the nose, and i sort of get used to it. i ended up finsihing the whole glass out of what felt like obligation, and it didnt make me sick, so at least it has that going for it. heard they are pulling some bottles off of shelves because of the aroma, and i might suggest they do the same with the draft. maybe its good for people to see what sour beer tastes like when it goes really wrong. i suspect their next sour release will be done with less haste, and it will probably be really good. maybe there wont be a next one and they will stick to the hoppy stuff they do so well. avoid this one.

A fruity sour. It's pretty much what you'd expect. I prefer a sour with more subtleties to explore, but this is tasty and refreshing nonetheless. Would be good for a hike, camp, or hot day.

The worst smelling beer I've ever had the displeasure of trying. Smells exactly like someone threw up in my glass, exactly like vomit. Absolutely disgusting.

This honestly may be the worst beer I've ever tried. If someone put a gun to my head and forced me to choose between drinking this and Natty Ice, I would almost certainly drink the Natty Ice.
