Collaboration with Birkenhead Brewing NZ

Beautiful Trouble is a big American IPA with a touch of Kiwi inspiration. New Zealand and U.S. hops collide, creating a tropical and fruity hop aroma and flavor. Pacific Jade, Nelson Sauvin, Citra Mosaic and Amarillo offer notes of white wine grapes, tropical fruit, melon, and passionfruit, all balanced by rich Munich and Vienna malts. Originally brewed in New Zealand with Birkenhead brewing Co., the Kiwis return to the U.S. for a second round of collaboration with Ninkasi Brewing.

Had at the 2017 OBF and gave it a very good rating. Don't remember anything about this beer specifically. Really liked it though. 65 IBUs

330ml bottle poured into a teku glass.

Translucent at first then turning to be clear amber copper color, the pour builds up thick silky off-white head that very well retains itself with excellent retention before slowly subsiding to an everlasting frothy layer atop and leaving lots of lacing patch and spot.

Loads of hoppy fruitiness in a nose, there comes tropical, bold citrus, lemon, unripe mango, passion fruit, melon, white grape, sour berry, also floral, pepper, resin, and grass. Malt is in good supporting with notes of bread and some caramel.

The hoppy goodness still covers through the palate sensation with its tropical, bold citrus, lemon, unripe mango, passion fruit, melon, white grape, sour berry, also floral, pepper, resin, grass, and upright bitterness exactly like the aroma while malt is also there reinforcing with its bread and sweet caramel. The end and aftertaste is wrapped up and lasting with hop bitterness and fruitiness.

Medium to a bit full body with some good moderate carbonation and smooth mouthfeel through the palate, the feeling is crisp and refreshing with a typically dry finish.

Good IPA with a nice mixture of both US and NZ hop, the Pacific Jade and Nelson Sauvin harmoniously blend in with all the other US hops and impart some touch of NZ.
