On tap at Bier Stein 12/5 poured into chalice, 8.5 ABV, $4.00 a glass.
Dark amber body, less than a finger of white head, with some lingering lacing. The hops in the nose and taste have certainly mellowed due to barrel aging. Noble piney hops still dominate the taste, but a nice malt profile, bready, roasted and sweet provide a good balanced drinking experience. I certainly enjoyed this a bit more than Oaked Arrogant Bastard, a bit better balanced. Worth seeking out for fans of the American Strong Ale. I can easily imagine Glen Falconer enjoying one of these.

Poured in a 10oz glass on draft at Bailey's Taproom. Dark, slightly murky brown color topped by a small, hazy tan head. Rich, roasted malt and a mildly fruity hop profile on the nose. Palate is more assertively hoppy up front, with a nice nutty, malty character balancing things out. A strange note that tastes exactly like my homemade peanut brittle (hardened mix of corn syrup and sugar) emerges right after the swallow. Body is substantial, but not particularly thick, making it right on track for the style. Ideally a slow sipper, as it is a heavy hitter, but I had to get a move on from the pub and drank this rather quickly. Nonetheless, a decent offering that's worth seeking out.
