a quality oktoberfest type lager here, a little lighter in color than a lot of the marzens this season, but robust on flavor, totally malt driven, nicely lagered, and real drinkable, a perfect fall beer indeed. i was impressed with the overall quality of the beer at mick duffs, ahead of the curve for sure, and i enjoyed this one over at their beer hall. its orange in color, clear, and has a slowly dissipating half inch of white head on it. the aroma is toasted and nutty from the grain, less immediately sweet than a lot of these, but not lacking depth or richness to me. there is a neat mineral profile to this, like they got the water treatment right, very german there, and it helps with the way the yeast comes through, crisping and easily identifiable as a german lager strain. the flavor is warming but also almost refreshing at the same time, so few beers can do that! some hops come in on the back end for a nice crisping bitter balance, and the whole thing jives so well. a beer i could sit and drink on all day long, really well done.
