The colour is dark brown, almost black (80 EBC), the liquid is clear. The wo finger high airy head sinks down to a thick beige lid leaving some lacing.
The smell is bitter, fruity and roasted. Thick, fat notes of charcoal, toffee and orange peels, motor oil and a hint of smoke.
The taste is very hoppy, almost like an American DIPA. Orange peel, grapefruit and lemon juice. Roasted notes of cocoa and coffee in the background. Medium body. The aftertaste is less bitter and more fruity with smooth sweetness. Light smoke and charcoal in the finish.
The carbonation is medium strong: lots of small long-lived bubbles. The liquid is quite light.
A pleasant black IPA with a fine balance of malt and hops.
