The colour is faint wine red; the airy head is yellowish.
The smell is spicy with hints of cloves and a somewhat oily flavour of candle grease. Some sweetness and a mild bitter note.
The first flavour is sweet with notes of raisins and a balancing mild clean bitterness. Christmas flavours of cloves and cinnamon emerges after some time. The body is quite thin; did they brew this one with added sugar? Some clean bitter notes, a tart hint and a complex fruity flavour (I came to think of plums-in-brandy-chocolate candy) and a chemical hint of wax. Some alcohol and a lightly roasted note in the finish.
The carbonation is light, the liquid is a bit dry. The bubbles are large.
A well crafted no nonsense Belgian-style brew. Maybe a little too light. Works well with cream gateaux.
