Had this on tap at the brewpub. Served into a pint glass.
A- Poured dark brown in color, almost a deep deep mahogany. Clear in color with nice off white head. Left quite a bit of lacing on the glass.
S- Very sweet smelling nose. Malt's are upfront on this beer. Caramel, sugary smell mostly. Slight hop aroma faintly in the background.
T- Follows the nose close. Sweeter taste to the beer. Caramel malts more up front. Followed closely by nice hop taste. Gives a slight bitterness to the end of the beer. Hops are more floral but go up against the malts nicely. Pretty good balance here.
M- Medium body with low carbonation. Smoother drink, a little oily though.
O- Good barley wine. Good balance, more hops than most beers in the style but gave good character to it. Best beer I've had from Barley Island for sure. If I'm ever back, I'd hope they have it on tap again.
