3330ml bottle at home from my 2009 belgian beer trip ... crisp light amber in colour ... with a nice easy soft bready yeasty nose ... flavour is smokey ... with a little woody and yeasy ... as well as a little salty ... all in all nice if fairly uninspired, but easily drinkable

33cl bottle poured into a Val Dieu Tulip. Best before 25-11-10.

Pours like a typical tripel....golden with a nice big fluffy head. Tons 'o bubbles as well. Head on the glass stays a a solid finger-level or so during most of the session.

Smell is spicy, sweet, and bitter. Citrus peels and a touch of hops are first and foremost on the nose. The malt is there somewhere, but definitely toned down.

Taste is definitely on the bitter side...very bitter side. Whatever malt may or may not have been lurking in the smell is definitely not in the taste. The first hit is spicy bitterness, the citrus peels and hops is what I notice. There might be some coriander in there as well as some other spice I can't pick up. A bit of sweetness comes in and out, but spicy-bitterness seems to be the point of this brew. Finish is extremely boozy for 8.0%. The booze really lingers on the tongue as well.

Mouthfeel isn't that bad. For as carbonated as this guy is it's pretty smooth on the tongue. The finish though leaves a dry boozy feeling on the back of the tongue that's a bit unappealing.

Drinkability? Eh. Not great, not bad. It's 8% but the taste makes it feel like it's 11-12%. 1 or 2 in the night and that's about it.

I'd be interesting if someone had a suggestion for what to pair this with to see if it can open it up at all.

I think I'll try this one again in the future as I want to believe there's more there than what I'm picking up.

I bought this bottle at a Bio-supermarket in Leuven.

I served this beer in a small 15cl tulip.
It produces a firm snow-white head. It’s composed of very small bubbles and kept in balance by a vivid carbonation.
The colour of the beer is clear golden. Little pieces of yeast are played around with by the carbonation.
The scent gives a strong yeast smell. Alcohol and spices are noticeable as well.
The taste is much more complex as I expected. At first the yeast dominates, but closely followed by alcohol and herbs. No trace of malt. Afterwards a bitter and dry sensation takes over.
Mouthfeel is dry, a bit sweet, but mostly bitter.

Nice homebrew!

Bottled 26-06-06. Good appearance with snowwhite foam upon a opalizing golden beer. Nose shows herbs as listed, guess is koreander and orangepeals aswel as some sarrasine. Taste is strong alcoholic and bitter. Not much maltyness as the unrifined sugar is not bringing that much taste, making it very dry with sweet hint in nose and so IMO litle unbalanced in mouthfeel. Still a fine brew to drink and enjoy.
