I was visiting family and discovered a little hole in the wall GEM of a brewery! This PAPA was quite refreshing. Had I been allowed to take a growler through airport security, I would've gladly brought home my 64oz growler full of this stuff!

a highly serviceable american pale ale here, and what i like to call a great breakfast beer. to have this with their scotch eggs is a real treat, and maybe its the context, but i liked this pale ale a lot. golden and lighter in color than many, a good inch of head in the pint glass that slowly dies back. smells like a big handful of C varietal pellet hops, mostly added late, as it should. super clean grain base, lighter in flavor too, very little residual sugar at the end, which makes it very very easy drinking, a total session beer. they have done a nice job pulling pine notes out of the hops without making the beer too bitter, it stops well short of the ipa mark, that aspect is handled expertly. a hint of orange sweetness in the middle, but on the thinner body it doesnt last, and there is enough carbonation to keep it moving and refreshing, even palate cleansing with heavier food. definitely not the most inventive beer on the menu here, but certainly worth trying when you are visiting. a great first beer of the day kind of beer, shake the dust off and get you going...
