so cool to get to drink a few from these guys, the little bottles are so sexy, a nice dose for this although i could have drank a half dozen of them. a neat little ipl type, not something we see as often from the european breweries in my experience, but count on italy to deliver something unique! love the packaging on this. very lightly hazy, frothy white head on a body a shade richer than straw colored but well short of the orange spectrum, sudsy and lasting on the head, well carbonated for sure. the nose suggests this may be old, or have been on a warm shelf too long, or just come a really long way for a hoppy beer, oxidation is there, not cardboard or newspaper or gross, but some hop fade anyway. still, its unique through that, both in terms of the ferment and the hop profile. the yeast is bready all the way, and pulls some obvious earthy character from the pils malt this appears to be built on, minerals like crazy, wet clay and mud in a good way, fully organic, slight pizza dough thing in bulk fermentation, good flour and the like. the hops are gin-like up front, then super green grassy and full of chlorophyl which brings back a fresh element, then finally with citrus and even weedy notes, bold for a european brew, and whatever the hops are seem less common to me, there is a uniqueness to them that i cant quite place, a culinary herbal thing, gorgeous even if faded, honeysuckle, white grape, daffodil, really springy. bitter too, this dries out fast at the end and it lingers a little intense, definitely bold. enjoyable frothy feel, lots of life, very drinkable even still, unique water chemistry perhaps, this has something sort of intangible about it that i really like, almost fancy even aside from the packaging. would love to try these beers fresh in italy one day, but this was still a treat!
