Served in straight pint glass. Poured a solid black, none of the translucence generally found in a Porter, very Stout-like. The beer had about 1/4 inch of dark khaki head that had moderate retention and light-medium lacing.
The aroma had some base grains and slight roast, fairly benign and typical. On the tongue, the roast was the lead player, with the grainy malt in the background. The coffee-ish flavor lingered a long time at the back of the palate.
The body was perhaps a touch lighter than I prefer for the style, but was nicely full and smooth. Drinkability was good, the remainder of my pint went well with the sausage, eggs, and potatoes I had for breakfast. Overall, a good, solid, brew that is perfect for our cooler fall days. Perhaps not quite to the level of their flagship Pacemaker Porter, but still worth a shot if you see it.
