subtly unique rice lager, a vast improvement over their blonde ale, which i had right before it, but still a little bit amateurish around the edges. i like these a little lighter, crisper, and clearer, and while i dont mind some yeast character in one of these, this one is a little much, not as clean as it could be overall either, like maybe it wasnt lagered as long as it could have been. still, i like the beer, its floral and lightly starchy from the rice, the contribution of that grain is evident the whole way, and its supported with some mild almost toasted barley, i think a good grain base for this, dry and not too much. light honey, dandelion, jasmine, lavender, coriander, white tea, lemongrass, and slate minerality all in here, some doughy character to the ferment makes it linger slightly, but its still relatively quick finishing with some refreshment value. it could stand to be a bit more crisp, to pack a little more carbonation into the cans, and maybe to be just slowed down a big in the fermentation. that said, its cool to see this style proliferating and ive been grabbing up as many as i see. this is the better of the two kenai river beers ive had so far, although still nothing special in terms of overall quality unfortunately...
