Pours a great deep deep reddish-copper color with nice initial head and great lacing throughout. Very weak scent for such a strong beer, some deep maltiness and a slight tobacco aroma, but nothing overly strong. Huge flavors, though, with huge deep malt tones, a great Earthy hop kick at the end, and hints of tobaccco and Earth throughout. A great strong ale with tons of character.

Review from my titanic backlog. Drank in July 2010, on the way from Chicago to Tampa. This stuff was so good, I think about it to this day.

A - It pours a very reddish mahogany hue, somewhat hazy, and is capped with a perfect inch of off-white head. I have never seen a cask beer look as good (or taste as good) as it does at the Broad Ripple. These guys are converting me to a 'real ale' fan.

S - The brew is more golden in aroma than its hue would suggest. I was expecting peat and toffee but instead found delicious golden raisin and richer nutty cocoa flavors, and not so much roastiness. The hop is very mild and adds perhaps a smoothing tea-like mellowness.

T - This beer has officially won me over in terms of appreciation of cask ale. It has an unbelievable depth of flavor. I get tremendously delectable golden-fruity malt, notes of cocoa, hazelnut, herbal-tea-like hop and a caramel richness that evokes Dulce de Leche. Wow, flabbergasted (in a good way).

M - Now I know why people get crazed over 'real cask ale', it is great when done right.

D - Unfortunately, this brew was only revived for a festival, after being retired for 15 years. I can only pray that it will be back in rotation by the time i make it back to Indianapolis.
