The Indiana Replicale is an ongoing project by the Brewers of Indiana Guild.
Every brewery in the state is invited to participate and brew a singular recipe, thus allowing each brewery to showcase their own unique style and character. This particular Replicale is a recreation from Ackerman's Brewery.
Ackerman's operated from 1933 to 1935 in New Albany. The Imperial Double Stout was brewed only once each year, at Easter, as an early springtime treat for the brewery's loyal customers.

on cask at the broad ripple brewpub. this'll be my third go 'round of this year's replicale and the first from cask.
having only one cask offering before, i was expecting a low carbonation brew - but this one arrived near black in an english stout glass with a full finger and a half thick, creamy, foamy tan head with incredible retention and full on lace to the rim.
aroma of milk chocolate and a bit of coffee in the wayback.
first sip is seriously chocolate forward with a subtle coffee bitter following up on the center of the tongue. oak, ash, more chocolate and coffee notes linger.
super creamy, light bodied for the style, medium carbonation, subtle bitter, little bit of heat after the first few sips.
drinkable - yep. very.
