Served in straight pint glass at the Green Frog Cafe in Bellingham, WA. Poured a gorgeous deep ruby color with a hint of brown tint on the edges. Slightly more than an inch of creamy light tan head had decent retention and left light to moderate lacing.
Nice roasty aromas reach the nose first, followed by a sweet scent that leads to a slight hop tang on the end. The flavors follow along closely without the expected sweetness and more of a hop presence.
A nicely well-rounded body coats the tongue, letting the flavors linger a bit. A deceptively drinkable beer, care must be used because of the strength (8+%, I'm guessing but I don't know for sure). A very nice beer that is worth searching for if you're in the area.
