Crown Brown pours a nearly opaque cola brown with a lid of whitish foam.

The smell is lightly sweet chocolate and caramel malts with a light roasted charter and the barest hints of coffee.

The flavor has a caramel, chocote, and colaish sweetness along with a light roasted and nutty character. The body is light-medium with a light, limp, syrupy quality and minimal foamy carbonation.

Not bad, but not really good.

Above average only for the depth of color. No head poured at all even on a hard pour. Color is a deep brown/mahagony, showing traces of ruby.

This is a damn good smelling beer. Nice toffee malt aromas with a huge amount of caramelized nut aroma. Sweet and succulent. Hazlenut with hints of almond, white chocolate, roasted pear, and a smidgeon of floral hop aroma.

Roasted hazlenut and malty flavors in the mouth. Somewhat thin yet quite palatable. Finish is rather short. A bittering hop on the finish helps balance and bring out the roasty qualities. Not nearly as complex as the nose but easy to session. Marshmallow and burnt toffee with a hint of milk chocolate round things out.

12oz poured into a pint. No dates on the label that makes me think of JW Dundee's Honey Brown.

Dark brown with deep burgundy edges under a tan head that gives good lace and decent retention.

Nice balance of roasted malt and almonds in the nose. There's some hop dryness underneath and a hint of coffee.

The taste is nutty with some roasted malt and enough hop to give balance without interupting a malt finish. The malts give a good mouthfeel that is tempered by the carbonation.

A good alternative session brew when you don't want to go with the usual IPAs, PAs, Lagers, Wheats...etc.

Pours a clear brown color with red tinges around the edges and a creamy tan head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is of chocolate malt, slightly earthy and fruity. This medium-bodied ale's flavor profile is mostly of the nutty chocolate malt with just enough bitterness from the earthy hops to balance the malt out. Creamy, flavorful and refreshing with good carbonation. A very nice example of the style.

Well, for starters, getting this one out of the bottle and into my glass was an adventure in itself. On an extremely slow pour this stuff just fizzed up to the top of the glass almost immediatly on pouring. I'm really not sure what to make of this. It took me about 10 minutes of waiting for the head to recede and pouring a little more in to finally empty the bottle. So needless to say, this brew has a ridiculous head, far, far too much.

The smell is good, nutty and malty a bit sweet smelling, but not very strong smelling either. Taste was good, followed suit of the nose. A bit thick on the palatte but in a good way. There isn't a whole lot of carbonation apparent on the tongue, so I'm still freaking out about the head.

Overall this is a decent example of the style, though I've definatly had better. I'd have this again if the oppurtunity presented itself. Drinkability suffers however, I mean, who wants to spend 10 minutes pouring a pint?

Served in the 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. The color is brown, with a foamy white head with a decent retention. The smell is a dark semi-dry maltiness with a good bit of the nuttiness. The taste is relatively dry with the nutty flavor dominating, and just a hint of sweetness. Mouthfeel is average. As for drinkability, could have a few of these.

A solid little brown ale from King. A nice nutty bitterness makes this one that I enjoy, and would gladly have again.

Dark red brown with a slight, short lived tan head. Aroma is full of slightly sweet, toasty malt. Flavor is straight forward malt. Roasty and grainy with a growing sweetness then a somewhat dry finish. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side with moderate carbonation, but fine for the style. Very easy drinking beer.
