First of all, I'm glad that the guy at the store warned me that it would explode in my face, because it definitely did. The foam just kept coming and coming coming and coming and it took about 20 minutes for the foam to settle down into an actual glass of beer. I thought it was annoying, yet my boy Ankur argued that it was all in good fun.

Once settled, it poured into a brownish mess of a haze with a foamy white head. The head had dark brown flecks of yeast and perhaps some of the spices of the beer on it. The beer itself looked like apple cider, with chucks and flakes swashing around throughout.

It smelled strong of malt and that's it, however the tasting had much more to offer. It had a wintery spice and smooth finish of a delicious holiday ale.

However, after the foaming fiasco, the brew is almost flat and could afford a little more carbonation once in the glass. The body is a solid medium, however sludgy it looks from the side.

Overall it's drinkable and interesting and I would have totally hated it except for its splendid flavor.

From the few other ratings, it appears maybe the batch to Michigan had too much yeast or was shakin to hell for a week straight, who knows. At least I was warned beforehand and thus only suffered MINIMAL property damage...

Amber red and cloudy pour, with a quickly disappearing white head.

Kind of a bleachy caramel smell. Not too exciting, possibly a bit of contamination.

Caramel and some noble hop flavors mingle on the tongue. OK, but thoroughly underwhelming.

Very thin, almost watered down mouthfeel, this beer is very average.

Picked up the bottle, and it pours into my favorite beer glass. Okay, it's deep amber, minimal head and lacing. Aroma and taste are both minerally and slightly malty. Kind of one dimensional though, there isn't much there. A slight twang is there. Mouthfeel is okay, slightly thin. Nothing I'd look for again.

I won't soon complain about low carbonation in a King brew again. This one exploded all over my desk and onto my shorts and flowed throughout the house burning holes in the walls and killed the dog and then filled the streets past the storm drains and all the earth was consumed in fest foam. I'm assuming this is an Octoberfest by the name but it is an odd one with a heavy cinnamon brillo lacing and malty facade that melds into a lighter hoppy caramel maltiness. I don't mind this at all. Reminiscent of a winter warmer but without the drag-down Christmas spicing, frigidness and expectations. King is a consistent little brewery that comes through 3 out of 4 times and must be serious about their craft because their website has been down for half a year+ and running.

Hazy brown with a small head that is off white andfalls to a veiled ring quickly. Not much carbonation.

Has a nice malty oktofest aroma that is paired well with floral hops. Smells a bit nutty and has an odd, but pleasant citric aroma as it warms.

The taste is very malty upfront with some almonds, but the hops seem muted and miss the mark of balance. Lacks some crisp, maybe due to the low carbonation. Feels almost like an old ale, and I like old ale, but this should be crisper.

I wish I would have picked this up as a single as I'm already bored with it and I still have five left.
