A solid coffee stout.

Bought this at the "Taste of History" restaurant at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MIchigan.

Poured out to a jet black in the glass with almost no head. Aroma is that of coffee and cocoa. Tastes of roasted malt goodness and afforementioned coffe and chocolate. This was very easy to drink and paired up nicely with peanut butter fudge, creating an adult version of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

From the looks of the bottle and the scant information I've gathered from a website, I believe that this was brewed and bottled by King for Greenfield Village* which is part of the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. Regardless, this is a fine stout with a big coffee flavor and body. But unlike the Bell's Java Stout there is also a roasty cocoa blend that makes this one drink very evenly. Unfortunately there was only one bottle left at the store and no signs of others. Maybe I'll have to finally go to Greenfield Village* and track some down.

*It is a long-standing ritual for school kids of Detroit and the metropolitan area to go there on field trips and dress up in early 1900s garb for the day and carry a coffee can lunch pail around with them and learn about Henry Ford, the automobile and life during his time. Too bad I refused to wear the clothes and carry the pail (likewise for Halloween costumes; I actually skipped school in kindergarten and hid behind a neighborhood friend's house to avoid being the devil) and thus I stayed home when my turn came to go.

Purchased at Bello Vino in Ann Arbor. No dates on the label that indicates this as part of the series of beers that King's is brewing for Greenfield Village.

Blackness under a head of brown that falls to a thin layer in a minute or so. Not much for lace or retention.

The nose is almost all fresh ground coffee. Not the cheap shit they pimp at Denny's but some quality arabica. Dry overall, I can barely detect some hop dryness but it is almost all coffee.

The coffee flavors are there for sure, but it also has some nut flavor as well as a pinch of cocoa and bitter hops that make themselves know in the finish. Slight lactic flavor that hasn't soured. I'm not a coffee drinker yet I find this very tasty.

Full mouth that is not slick and has just the right amount of carbonation. A very interesting beer that threatens to be one dimensional yet opens up as it warms.
