Tido is a dark special beer that gives a pleasant roasted taste with a touch of sweetness. It is brewed with care from gently malted barley from our own fields with added hops. During brewing, we focus on the natural malt flavor, and we age the malt longer than usual, which gives it the beautiful color. The barley is malted by Fuglsang Maltfabrik, and the beer is brewed according to a special recipe by Harboes Bryggeri in Skælskør.
Tido is named after Lensgreve Charles Bendt Mogens Tido Wedell, who was the owner of Frijsenborg and Wedellsborg from 1958 to 1982, and the father of the current owner Bendt Hannibal Tido Wedell.

Copenhagen 11/1 2017. 50 cl bottle from Irma. Dark green label in De 5 Gaarde's usual brand design with a drawing of a Farm building and some advertisements about "Proud Traditions". According to the Brewery this beer is "full bodied with a pleasant roasted flavor". Can hardly wait.
Pours dark reddish brown with a small white head. Stable. Head settles as patchy remnants of foam drifting around. No lacing.
Aroma is sweet and sugary with caramel, roasted malts and cardboard. Whiff of toffee.
Medium strong carbonation and slightly thick palate. Lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is sweet - but not especially heavy. Followed by a quite light bitterness.
One of the better ones from Harboe - which is not saying very much.
