Poured from the tap into a wine shaped tasting glass.
Appearance- Beer pours as black as night with a large, thick cap of foam that is a red/tan. Foam refuses to let up for anything. Lacing is glued to the sides.
Smell- Dark roasted malts with enough smoke to leave a decadent scent of bacon lingering to the finish. Bacon may be hiding hops and flaws, either way, I'm not catching any flaws from the beer.
Taste- Creamy, sweet, and a bit thin as far as Russian Imperial's go. This does make it go down a bit easier as far as drinkability goes. Chocolate, smoke on the flavor isn't nearly as pronounced as it is on the smell.
Mouthfeel- Creamy as stated before, smooth, medium-full bodied, and mildly carbonated. Not astringent by any stretch of the imagination.
Drinkability- Pretty well balanced, I would and did have another pint of it and will likely have more before the keg is entirely tapped.
