On tap in a snifter at the brewpub on 10/29/11
Deep honey amber; mostly clear. 1/3rd inch, loose head; it doesn't last. Bubbly half collar of retention and a few lines of lace.
Weird aroma - toasted wheat and dulled pumpkin pie notes with a touch of butter. Doesn't smell too spicy at all but has an odd twinge.
Tastes worse, I think. Tangy wheat base seems decent enough and a few swirls later I find a hoppy nip. However, the pumpkin pie spices seem entirely out of place. Additionally there are some out of place, musty flavors that emerge over time. Strangely, the off flavors don't present themselves all the time; occasionally it tastes ok.
Medium-light feel. Way too much carbonation. Prickly. Sharp. Aggressive swirling is needed to tame the carbonation. Bit of a grainy finish.
So bizarre. Elevator generally makes good wheat beers. Perhaps they should have left it out of the pumpkin beer, though.
