What an interesting beer...

This was something that I never intended or expected to get. Looks very good with it's bright golden colored hue, but what sets this apart is the sweetest and maltiest of scents. Nothing like it I have ever come across. Mouthfeel is smooth with a touch of crispness. This is certainly something worth giving a try, quite possibly could be considered a dessert beer...

a rustic italian wit that seems more or less like a hybrid between a traditional belgian wit and a saison, yeasty but not as interesting or as refined as the best italian beers. my first beer from these guys is quite good, but absolutely overpriced as they go, even for italian beer. hazy pale yellow straw colored with a soft white micro bubble head, slow fading. gentle spice, lemongrass, green tea, grassy hops, fresh cereals, oaty maybe, floral. the yeast is less belgian, more rustic saison type, with some light green apple it and a delicate pollen spingy quality. slight citrus in the flavor, some hop bitterness later one, nice body for the low alcohol, dry but not snappy and crisp like the best wits, but brilliantly carbonated. this has some unique elements to it if you pay close attention, and it gets a lot more expressive as it warms up, but it feels a little starchy and simple once you get used to it. the italians have my attention, so i dont mind paying for new beers from breweries like this, but i do have high expectations and this one isnt quite at the level the price suggests it should be. i know they use local grains and all, but this doesnt seem like it should cost as much as it does for a wit type...
