It take a more vigorous pour to get the head to develop, but once it does it's fairly nice; bubbly tannish head with solid retention. Chocolate brown hue with hints of ruby around the edges.
Slight hint of coffee at first in the aroma that's followed by a dark fruitiness; some sweetness; not really all that roasted, but nice. The flavor has a sharp coffee character that moves really quickly into a sourishness, almost like eating a raw cranberry without the berriness; some hint of that fruit comes in, not sure what's going on here, but it's all over the place and not very pleasant. Coffee grinds finish things out....not good at all. MF is a little slick and medium in general. This is tough going down, and not sure if I can do the whole bottle. Going to be a challenge. Can't help but think that something's wrong...or maybe this just isn't a good brew (best before date checks out).
