Bottle:
Poured a dark brown-black with a substantial mocha cap that does not last ot lace. Heavy carbonation.

Nose is part roast grains and cocoa with some musty earthiness from yeast

Weak mouth feel...some roast, some coffee, weak body light fast finish with some late dryness. weak and nondescript with an annoying sour yeast presence.

A: Pours black but not totally opaque. Head is beige and very very strong. Lacing is medium. Head retention is good.

S: Roasted malts more than anything else. Some acidic funkiness. A little bit of dark chocolate, coffee and smoke. Not really impressive.

T: Watery with a little bit of roasted malts and powdery cacao, not very strong. That's it. I'm used to be extensive in taste notes, but this is really really not interesting and notes from the smell aren't present.

M: Carbonation is mid, which is okay, feel is a bit watery.

D: doesn't taste much, so it's easy to drink but FAR from being satisfied enough by this one to take another one.

not quite sure where this one came from, so to whoever, thanks!

12oz bottle. sampled feb 5/2010.

pours nearly black and opaque with a small fine light brown head. the head quickly drops to a thin ring around the glass and leaves spotty lace.

aroma is good. dark chocolate. bit of milk chocolate. caramel and toffee. bit of coffee. lightly toasted multi-grain bread and biscuit. touch of alcohol. anise. bit earthy.

taste is nice. dark chocolate. toasted multi-grain bread. bit of caramel and toffee, but nowhere near as rich and complex as the aroma. bit of milk chocolate. touch of alcohol. low bitterness level.

mouthfeel is pretty good. medium body with a nice dry finish. just under medium carbonation level.

drinkability is good. nice balance, decent complexity. a nice irish stout.

12 oz bottle, big thanks to grub for sharing.

Pours an opaque dark brown, some black, medium tan head forms and settles down to a medium ring around the glass, some lace spots, looks alright.

Smell is almost Baltic porter like, some vanilla and chocolate, cola, caramel, raisin, a lot of fruit and some sweet malt, brown sugar, a touch of licorice and biscuit, not bad.

Taste is alright but weak, grainy and roasty, some ash, caramel, brown sugar, toast/biscuit, very fruit, not a whole lot going on.

Mouthfeel is light bodied with low to medium carbonation. Goes down okay but isn't too exciting. Thanks Russ!

Pours pitch black, huge bubbly head that dissipates down to a odd foamy film. A bit of lace.

Faint aroma of cooked cabbage and aspirin, predominantly chocolate malt and roated caracter in the nose. Also a hint of cristal malt caramel goodness. Flavor of charred malts and a bit of DMS, after half the glass the odd flavors and aromas dissipate mostly. Finishes dry and satisfiying with a hint of oaked whisky in the aftertaste.

I've had better but its still quite good.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light roasted malt notes with some coffee notes as well. Taste is also dominated by some light roasted bitter notes with some medium dry coffee notes and some subtle black chocolate notes also recognisable. Full body with good carbonation for the style. I thought this was lacking a bit of character but still very enjoyable for the style.

Initially a whole bunch of chocolate malt hits you and it seems like a sweet stout, with a regular stout aroma of barley and chocoalte malt. Black with a thin head. Then it really gets dry and hard to..swallow, sourish aftertaste. Overall not bad, but I would not try again.Roast is there and secondary.

One of the best Irish stouts I've had... and it's from Quebec! Pitch black pour into a pint glass, solid tan head with lots of lacing as I drink. Malty, crackery, mildly smoky aroma. Taste and mouthfeel are absolutely excellent. Dry, just slightly bitter mouthfeel. Chocolate, coffee, smoke, tobacco throughout. Short-lived, mildly hoppy aftertaste. Excellent -- wish I'd gotten more.
