I thought the Laurentina Premium was a decent Euro style pale lager. Very easy drinking and much better than many of its euro and american counterparts. The beer poured golden clear with a white head than left a spotty lace. The scent and taste were typical grain, biscuit, slight saaz grass hop. The mouthfeel was light in body with good carbontion. Overall a good beer to drink whilst in Mozambique!

The normal Laurentina Clara is fairly decent (for what it is) and is brewed with adjuncts. If the premium (adjunct free) is better, it could become one of my favorite African Macro-lagers.
Appearance: Laurentina Premium pours a clear, darker than usual shade of gold and has a large white head that has pretty good retention (for the style) and leaves sparse patches of lace on the upper reaches of the glass.
Smell: Hmmm, I'm impressed, a macro-lager with a decent nose, no skunkiness, no adjuncts and not so light that you have to spend an hour looking for it.
Though not complex, the smell is clean and fairly powerful for the style. Pale malt dominates, but a hint of grassy hops is also noted.
Taste: As with the smell, the flavour is nothing complex or special, but is clean and contains no 'bad' elements. Pale malt again dominates, but the hops make enough of an appearance (flavour and bitterness) in the finish to balance the beer.
I would prefer more bitterness, but then again it's rather impressive to note hops at all in an African lager.
Mouthfeel: Light body and a little too highly carbonated.
Drinkability: Laurentina is certainly drinkable and will most certainly be my beer of choice the next time I am lying on the beach in Mozambique.
I must say I am very impressed with this beer; it is almost certainly the best African Macro-lager I have had and could rival some of the African micro-brewed lagers. Anyone traveling to Mozambique should make an effort to find it.
