A - Dark, dark brown coloured beer with a few centimetres of light tan head that falls away quite quickly.
S - Some bitter chocolate notes, a touch of floral hops.
T - Very much like the smell.
M - Medium to full bodied. Carbonation is quite high. Slightly astringent.
D - Nice enough beer but there are better stouts out there

A trip out to the Emerald Hill brewery last evening proved to be a good move, as I got to try their very promising Oatmeal Stout on tap.
Classic stout color, almost black, with a thinning dark brown head, not a lot of carbonation, but that does not pose a problem. Smells quite fruity at first, before chocolate and roasted aromas come thru.
Smooth taste, roasted notes giving way to chocolate, coffee, and some plum flavors. Pleasantly bitter finish, and delightful chocolatey aftertaste that lingers for some time.
It's very clean tasting, but robust without being overpowering, a very nice, easy to drink stout that will keep you happy all night. It could use a little refining, but that will come with time. All up a very good effort again from this brewery.
