Purchased at the BSF bar, GBBF 06. A German name Brauerei Schlesien Rübezahl is stated on the beer label, looking and sounding like German with its label design, yet the small fonts on the bottom of the label disclose the beers true identity, a Polish brew actually~~ Coming in a 500ml brown, traditional-shape German lager bottle. Served chilled in a weizen glass.
A: pours bright and clear, reddish amber hue; the initially thick, white frothy head settles gradually and leaves very fine lacing along the way, while the carbonation remains mild throughout the drink.
S: a sweet and thick caramel note combines with a crisp lemony edge of Munich lager hidden behind bready and sweet-chestnutty as well, underlining a light touch of cherry-like sweet fruitiness. Brown-sugar and malt-sugar abound on the aroma, yet totally expectable from its alc. strength. Overall, pretty nice, not like mass-produced, generic European strong lager, more like a Bock with a muter malty edge IMO.
T: soothing-textured sweet toffee-ish maltiness, sour-sweet stone-fruits and sugar-cane juice come together, added by a lightly burned bitter kick of caramel, nuts, and grassy hops, yet staying as such without much evolvement in flavour-profile clean palate in the finish with a noticeable bitter undertone, without falling thin nor picking up on alc. Solid.
M&D: very smooth on the mouthfeel, given the nicely-executed fizziness; medium-bodied and moderately flavoured for a Bock. The strongest point lies in its well-tuned alc., hidden all too well and, on top of soft carbonation, enhancing this beers quaffability hugely~~
