The Fresh Market

This is a grocery store first, albeit an excellent one. Vibe and service get the average, a 3. Quality gets a 3.75 as it is an outstanding store.
The beer cave is an absolutely phenomenonal place. Hundreds of craft beer choices in any manner you may want. It definitely rates a 5.

 

This is one of the larger The Fresh Markets that I have visited and seems like it has been recently renovated. They now have a beer cave which is a small room off the main store which is completely refrigerated. The beer cave was about 90% beer with a little sparkling wine and cider as well. It is an upscale grocery store and I would describe the vibe as what I expected.

Beers are all stored cold in the beer cave which is not exposed to natural sunlight.

It is a grocery, so none of the people that I ran into were very knowledgeable about the beer offerings but I did not seek out anyone from the department nor did I have any questions. All staff I interacted with were friendly.

So I visited this The Fresh Market shortly after they opened their new beer cave featuring over 400 craft brews which is a significant amount than is normally available at The Fresh Market locations. Much larger selection of singles for the mix-6-pack.

 

 

I stopped in here to pick up some water and supplies for the next few days for my room. As typical with most organic grocers they always seem to have a great beer selection, at least for a grocery store. Along the wall you found most every common six pack from the area along with a couple mini kegs of two hearted and oberon. A smaller selection of bombers and belgian 750's. Help was no where to be found, but I was not really looking. Prices seemed a bit higher then at total, but again that is par. Overall a nice store, better for food though.

I stop in here now and then for the occasional gourmet soda. However this is the first place that introduced me to the concept of making a custom six-pack.

The selection of beers is pretty slim. Basically just a small refrigerated section of wall with maybe twenty something bottles of individual beers to choose from to make a sixer. The rest of the space is filled with full six-packs and cases. A large portion of BMC and standard imports like Heineken and the like. They also have a few local brews like Natty Greene's and a small selection of micros.

I can't say much for service as I was never really approached by anyone.

I'm kinda torn about the quality because I feel that I picked up a few bad beers from here. I say that because this was the first time I had picked up a Sam Adams Boston Lager and it tasted terrible like it had gone bad. After having tried it from other stores and it tasting fine, I'm convinced that the bottle I picked up there was bad. I had a similar problem with a few others I bought there as well. Most tasted fine but quite a few seamed off or stale.

Prices are a bit higher than most places. The way their custom sixers is set up is that you pay $8.99 regardless of what you get. Which means your paying more for some beers and less for others.

Overall not a place I would go to get for beer. Only if I had nowhere else to go or was in a pinch.

Stopped here the other day when in the area. The beer section is located on the left side of the store in a cooler section, which is nice. They carry a small amount of singles to make a mixed sixpack, but not many. They have a good number of sixpacks as well. Most of the selection is what is already around the area. I didn't see anything special or out of the ordinary. They carried some from Duck Rabbit, Highland, Kona, Spoetzel, among others. Nothing that great here, but if you're already here, not a bad place to grab some already-cold beer.

I popped in here to get a number of "strange" cooking ingredients and was hoping their beer selection would be as diverse and interesting as EarthFare.

Quality was probably decent, everything was refrigerated. I didn't buy anything, so I can't say for sure.

Service is what you'd expect...non-existant but it's a grocery store.

The selection was severely lacking. It's quite small to begin with, and about 50% of their stuff is BMC. What they do have is very slim...Natty Greenes, Sam Smiths, Sierra Nevada, an offering from DFH, Chimay Blue, and a lot of Euro macros a la Becks, Heineken, Stella, etc.

Prices were expected for a more natural foods atmosphere.

There's no reason to go here for beer at all. The selection just doesn't warrant a special visit, and there's absolutely nothing there that can't be found within a mile or two.

This is certainly not the best place to buy beer in Greensboro, but if you are in this area of town and looking for some good brews, you can find some here. The selection is modest but there can be some good stuff found here from all 3 Chimays to some Rogue, DFH, and Aventinus to name a few. As with the entire store, the quality is there but it is also a bit pricey. The pricing is not outrageous but you are paying for primarily the convenience and the quality of the store as a whole. The service here is nice and friendly but beer is not a priority which is understandable for this type of establishment. Again, not my first choice, but a solid place to swing in to buy good beer conveniently.
