Handsome clear amber color in the tulip. Decent head that doesn't leave much trace after a couple of minutes. Some light sparkle in the mouth. Very light body and a tasty quaff.

The nose is intriguing and I can't figure it out. Some kind of herbal taste, a hoppy and flowery aroma. Flavor is fruity and spicy with the strangest perfumey taste. Totally likeable. I was baffled until I realized this is some kind of Saison along with the rye spicy and grainy flavors. A fabulous combination and I hope to see more brewers try this variation out.

Even Stone had to resist over-hopping a Saison, so it's not very bitter in keeping with the style. Definitely my favorite so far from the Liberty Station brewery. On tap at the Kettner Street Company Store.

Reviewed from notes taken at Stone Liberty Station, San Diego.

A- From the tap to a large chalice with a semi-hazy, yeast filled golden body. White cap builds up to one finger high and remains there for a decent amount of time. This cap falls to a small frothy ring leaving webs of lace blanketing the glass.

S- Fresh coriander yeast spice with some peppercorn and orange peel. Baked yeast bread, rye crust and some light fruits come to mind.

T- Rye grains are a bit more obvious here with a somewhat mild Saison yeast compared to many other examples of the style. Lemon peel, clove, pink peppercorn, coriander and fruits, a Wittier strain for me. Some grassy hops in the finish.

MF- Creamy moderately dry light bodied with smooth carbonation. Finishes with spicy bitters and just feels silky.

Good rye feel without that or the yeast being too spicy to make it too much.
