A vibrant hop-bursted session IPA
First Release: March 2014
Since Day One, we've been abundantly forthright and fully transparent about our lust for hops. It's led us to craft many an IPA, most of them imperial—some intense for their time and all timeless in their intensity. For Stone Go To IPA, we embrace our hop obsession in a new way, funneling an abundance of lupulin-borne bitterness into a "session" IPA that delivers all the fruity, piney character of a much bigger IPA. To accomplish this, we employ "hop bursting," a new technique wherein an irrational amount of hops is added during the final phase of the brewing process to coax out extreme flavors and aromas while also imparting a burst of desirably pleasant bitterness. The result is an alpha-acid-rich beer that fans can enjoy more of without missing out on the assertive hop character you, like us, crave. So, sit back and go two with your new everyday go-to IPA and bask along with us in the glory of the almighty hop.
Featured Hops: Ahtanum, Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook, Citra, Crystal, Magnum, Mosaic, Sterling, Hopsteiner 06300

Copenhagen 22/12 2016. 33 cl can from Meny. Beer drinking devil on the can looking kind of aggressive.
Pours hazy golden yellow with a white head. Settles as a 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Lacing on the side of the glass.
Strong aroma with exotic fruit and citrus fruit intermingling. The sour citrus is dominating the odeur.
Soft carbonation and oily palate.
Flavor has light sweetness, quickly overpowered by strong bitterness. Distinct bitter aftertaste and dry finish.
What it lacks in ABV, it has in spades in the bitterness department. Not bad.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours red orange with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus and grassy hops. Tastes of grassy and citrus hops. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Pours a clear pale yellow. Thin foam. Hoppy aroma. Soapy hop body. Very thin. Flavor fades quick to light bitter finish. Average at best.

1/29/2024 - Slightly hazy, almost clear, light amber. White head recedes to a thin cap, some lacing; Taste is okay but not remarkable; Mouthfeel is also okay but not remarkable; Not bad. Wouldn't turn it down but wouldn't ask for it.

Pours a golden straw color with a half finger of head. The nose is fairly faint - some citrus and that's about it. The flavor profile is similarly bland. There is the signature Stone bitterness on the finish, but that's about it. The body is surprisingly hearty compared to other session IPAs.

Liked it enough for a session. Still us a very good lemon and citrus taste as a regular Stone IPA. Just missing that little punch, but would recommend on a king day.

After trying a lot of session IPAs, I basically ended up avoiding the style save for Founder's All-Day. Well, this bottle of beer, which I consumed on the porch during the pandemic, reminds me a lot of All-Day. It has a soft hop bitterness. Many sessions are almost overly hopped and quite thin without the malt backbone.
