This is a beloved stout. When first introduced as a limited special collaboration release with San Diego homebrewer Chris Banker (after his recipe won our annual homebrew competition) and Cerveceria Insurgente, it was an instant hit and fans began clamoring for its return. Seeing as how its amazing flavor profile is evocative of Mexican hot chocolate, featuring coffee, pasilla peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and a generous amount of chocolate, we concluded it was the perfect stout to re-release in celebration of the Holidays and the entire winter season. This is now a highly anticipated yearly tradition that we are pleased to present from us to you, and makes a perfect wintry gift from you to your friends, loved ones, or simply to yourself. Cheers!

From the 22 oz 2019 dated bottle that was cellar aged, it pours a very dark brown color with a nice light brown head that slowly reduces. Lacing. The nose gets a delicious scent of sweet malt, chocolate and possibly some coffee. The mouth follows with a dark chocolatey flavor, followed by bitterness in the cheeks and a lingering light bitter chocolate flavor in the back.

Copenhagen 22/11 2020. 35,5 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Stone's characteristic devil head with colorful Mexican patterns in the background on the cab.

Pours opaque, dark brown with a mid-sized beige head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Settles as thin, at places almost transparent layer of frothy foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is intense with a sweet odor mingling with spicy, perfumed notes. Dark chocolate, cake, cinnamon in abundance, sweet spicy nutmeg, mint, vanilla. Hints of coffee.

Light carbonation. Medium thick, soft, smooth, a bit viscous texture.

Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and sugary. Lingering. Finish has a light chili burn.

Quite the heavy cake beer with a refreshing chili burn.

Pours dark chocolate with a creamy head that dissipates rather quickly. A slightly bitter chocolate taste with a hint of vanilla & cinnamon. Could not taste the nutmeg, but the pepper taste was just right. There aren't many beers with peppers that I enjoy, and my favorite one is no longer available as the Brewery closed. Nice, flavored stout and probably would be better if it aged about a year. Rated 2-16-2021

Look: It pours dark brown with a tan head. Head retention is average.

Taste: It has chocolate aromas with some cocoa. There are some roasted elements with a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Taste: It has roasted and chocolate flavors with some cocoa. There are very low cinnamon and nutmeg elements.

Feel: It has a medium full body with strong bitterness in the finish.

Overall, There are some decent elements, but some of the elements are not strong enough to make an strong impression.

Pour with a tight tan head, rather carbonated for a impy stout, but it is only 8%. Smell is coffee, spice and a hint of chili. Taste is the same, very coffee, oddly dry. I was expecting something sweet and onctuous, this is more dry and thin. Feels more like a coffee porter than an adjunctzd imperial stout. Not all that good.

I'm going to start with the finish because sadly that is what brings this entire beer down. It leaves the taste in your throat that I can only describe as soaking a piece of metal in chemicals until it rusts and then sucking on it.
What a damn shame because very pretty to look at the smell follows the description on the can perfectly as does the taste when it FIRST hits your mouth and then....ugh it all falls apart. What a disappointment. Especially considering it came highly recommended from someone who always gives me good suggestions. I only got one can. Part of me wants to buy another just by chance that this one was off or aybe my taste buds were but....
