Bottle shared by Greg Koch at Woodshop 5.0. Thanks! The beer appears dark copper with a small tan head.
The nose is malty, with a light roasted character, a distinct nutty quality, and a little caramel. The flavor has more roast than the aroma suggested, with the slightest dash of coffee. The beer is nutty, and the malt is reminiscent of toffee and caramel. A subtle raisin presence is perceivable, as well as a little chocolate.
I never expected to try this. It held up quite well, especially considering the style. I hope Stone does this again in the future.

From my notes sampled after the beer was a year old. This beer has a bit too much roasted character to it to be a spot on example of a mild. As a light porter it works quite well. Nice amount of malt character to it, it finishes with quite a bit of roast character which adds to the light bitterness of the beer. I liked this beer, I was just expecting it to be more malty and less of the roast character. I would call this more of an English porter.
