Sure, the name ends with “ator”, but don’t be misled; this is not a doppelbock. We took the recipe for our venerable Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine and desecrated it with black malt and completely different hops, giving it more dark fruit and citrus character. New Desecrator combines the brawniness of our barleywine with the chocolaty, roasty intensity of an imperial porter.
In the Mash: 2-Row Pale, C-60 & Carafa III Malts
In the Boil: Herkules Hops
In the Whirlpool: Amarillo, El Dorado, Comet & Pacifica Hops

Picked this bottle up from Stone Liberty Station! Poured from their 2015 Quingenti Millitre bottle. Batch No. 8, 12.7% ABV, 65 IBU. Bottled December 2015.
Look: Pours pitch black, no foam, trace amounts of lace.
Smell: Incredibly boozy, with clear notes of bourbon. There's a really nice fruitiness in the aromas as well, dark fruits like raisins and figs. Even a slightly more subtle smell of orange in the finish.
Taste: Boozy burns, notes of oak complimenting a subtle hop and citrus quality. Bitter aftertaste, hints of coffee and malt. Very subtle chocolate, but not as much as in the aromas
Feel: Thick, sticky body. The high ABV is apparent with a good burn in the mouthfeel.
I was incredibly excited about trying this. Old Guardian is one of my favorites from Stone, and this beer did not disappoint. Definitely a heavy hitter, not for those new to the barrel-aged beers! But a great beer overall, with an amazing hop profile for such a dense brew.

The smell is tolerable, but the taste is something of moldy/musty soap if that's possible. It's not the lines cause I just cleaned them.
