And to think I raised 9 kinds of hell over a new Ruination recipe. Hmm.. I apologize to Stone for those emails. Hats off for an absolute great double ipa. Farewell to the classic Ruination with respect

Appearance - gold in volor5, fairly clear. Smell - hippy and bitter. Not much else. Taste - not good. It tastes like something out of a lawn mower bag. Honestly. Overall - I'm a "hop head" but this is not jiving. No thanks.

This is my favorite version of the new 2.0. Had it on draft at a local restaurant that was having a Ruination event in honor of the new releases. Just pure, hoppy goodness right here! If you don't like blatant, fragrant hoppy beers then this won't be for you. But if you do, just enjoy.

Appearance: Clear dark golden color with a smooth white head. Eventually fades to a thin chaotic layer of foam on top.
Smell: Big hops! Pine is still dominant, along with floral, citrus, and a little fruitiness (peach or mango).
Taste: So much hoppiness - I think this is actually more bitter than RuinTen. Just a little sweet during the first wave of hop assault. Malts are there, but I can’t say much about them. Long citric and piny hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Like Ruination. Pretty thick, but does not leave any residual stickiness, more like a residual bitter coating like tea. Moderate carbonation.
Overall: Delivers what it promises. Not something I would drink as often as normal Ruination but worth trying.

This pours a hazy dark gold. Good starting head for a bar pour. Some streaky lace on the glass.
Prickly, grapefruit aroma.
Smooth, malty start. This is quickly dominated by the strong, sharp hop. It's biting and bitter, but it doesn't have the straight up black pepper that I associate with this bitterness. The aftertaste is borderline harsh as it is one-dimensional in the bitterness. The body leans to the thin side which is unusual for such a big beer. Carbonation is as expected.
I'm not as ga-ga as some for this beer, but I do enjoy it.
