On draught at brewery tap room on Kettner Blvd, San Diego.
L: Grapefruit juice with a thin head that leaves spotty lacing.
S: Bubblegum & yeast. Soft and light.
T: Bubblegum, lemon pith and grapefruit juice. Moderate/light bitterness.
F: Clean & smooth mouthfeel with a powder dry finish.
O: Amazing AIPA/hefeweizen hybrid. A delicious summertime ale. Hoppy & yeasty. A truly great one-off.

this is darn near the hoppiest take on this style i have ever had! its a very estery wheat beer at its base, elements of both hefeweizen and belgian wit, wheaty and full and with a ton of yeast character, it would be bold and robust ad very stone-like even without all the hops, but they have hopped this up like another one of their double ipas, and for better or worse, have concocted a very unique and flavorful beer. the hops have a ton of bitterness, very stone again, but also a lot of aroma and flavor, grapefruit pith and zest, spruce and juniper oils, and a certain intensity, also a distinct synergy with the yeast esters, which are banana forward but also full of allspice and pear and apple and champagne notes, as well as more mild white pepper, clove, anise, and tea. its complex for sure, and it is good, but its also pretty abrasive and assuredly not for everyone. i should not have been surprised by this, but i was. good full body, relatively dry at the end even with the continuation of the yeast and hops after the swallow, and wonderfully lively carbonation and creaminess. a touch confused stylistically, but very well made beer!
