Poured on tap at the new Berlin facility back in August. It was listed on the menu as a Prototype brew.
Look: Dark chocolate color with a nice frothy off-white head. Faint ruby highlights when held up to the light. Good head retention as well.
Smell: Immediately got notes of coconut, coffee, chocolate, with a hint of nutty and caramel malts.
Taste: Predominate flavor was coconut, with a wonderful background blend of roasted and caramel malts, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Finish was very balanced.
Feel: This was definitely a full bodied Porter with good carbonation. Malty sweetness and a touch of bitterness on back end,
Overall I loved this prototype brew and one that I hope they release here in the states. The high alcohol content was well hidden by the coconut and hazelnut flavor and I could easily drink a few of these which is dangerous. Also, the new Berlin Bistro & Gardens is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to get the chance to go back.
