L: It pours bright amber permeated with rapidly rising bubbles. A 2" off-white foam collar with good retention blankets the top.

S: A malty background aroma supports spices, lemon, ginger and juniper suggesting a beer gin and tonic.

T: bitter even up front but the fruit and spices mellow it along with an initial sweetness.

F: medium body and carbonation

O: This is a beer well worth repeating.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a copper color and a clear texture. There was a half inch of foamy, very long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of hops, pine, citrus, malt, and caramel.

T: Tasted of a lot of citrus (lemon and lime, in particular), some light malt notes, tons of pine, a bit of caramel, a hint of juniper, and lots of ginger. An interesting flavor for an IPA. The inclusion of the juniper, ginger, and an abundance of pine makes for a good flavor.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Light-bodied.

O: This is an IPA that probably won't appeal to everyone, but if you want to try something different, this is it. Drinkable.

Bottle into tulip glass, the appearance was a copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head. Soft dissipation to leave some light lace. The aroma had some berries, juniper/pine, ginger, citrus, caramel/toast-like malt and a little bit of earthiness. The flavor copied the aroma pretty much spot on - sweet to bitter to spicy and slightly zesty. Aftertaste was semi-sweet with a touch of spice. Finish was the same. The palate was almost medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Light carbonation but felt acceptable since I figured it wanted to coincide with the ginger that they put in this. Which I say was a good idea to keep at the right level. ABV felt fine. Overall, the concept behind this was a great idea. The execution was pretty good, however if one of our top notch micro breweries in the US catches this one, they could really skate pass this one by Stone in the ranks, I bet.

On tap at Primo's

A: Pours deep golden orange amber with a frothy light khaki head that settles to a light layer and laces beautifully.

S: Ginger opens your sinuses right up, but not harsh at all, some juniper, then plenty of zesty citrus, floral notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Nicely balance, ginger and juniper are present but not overwhelming, quickly followed with citrus zest, lemon, lime, and grapefruit, mild floral notes, a bit spicy, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: A bit on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: I've had mixed luck with ginger IPAs in the past, but this is quite nice. Fun one to try.

Appearance: Clean amber, with a lovely off-white head and thin lace.

Aroma: Herbal, with spices above all else. Unique.

Taste: Ginger and juniper spices come out first, before a hint of lemon and bitterness finishes it out. The hops and these spicy notes all balance out really amazingly. Another unique and downright impressive creative brew from Stone, who do little wrong. Bravo!

Pours a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden amber color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, with some citrus, ginger, juniper. The taste is not that bad, really, hoppy, with some citrus, ginger, juniper, with some nice little sweetness. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew, definitely different.

Along with its bottle copy, I presume that Stone's marketing people that Jindian would be yet another successful offering to the hop-head market. (Time will tell.) But Jindian did not convert me.

While it looks and even Smells like Stone's IPAs that I've Had, Jindian's Tastes go even further from my mainstream. Way to much ginger and thinking that juniper could balance the balance... well, that was not a good idea. Probably not even one worthy of an experiment.

Only a devotee of hops would try this again and that won't be me.
