Had on-tap at Stone World Bistro and Gardens in San Diego, CA
A - Pours a clear and beautiful bright orange with a fair, pinkish hue. An island of suds float the center with a thin, broken ring lining the edge of the glass. No lacing.
S - Aroma is tart with cherry, lesser oak, some citrus and a bit of funk.
T - Tart cherry upront before some underlying citrus bitterness kicks in. Rose-like floral undertone hits mid-taste. Finish continues with the cherry tartness and a fair amount of pithy citrus bitterness.
M - Medium-bodied with light, tingly carbonation. Slick texture with a super dry finish.
O - I had the Cali-Belgique aged in red wine barrels last time I was here, and I thought it was amazing. While adding the sour cherries adds to the tartness, for me it detracts from what was an amazing, complex and well rounded brew. This one is killer too, but I think the addition was unnecessary.
