10oz pour on tap at the Liberty Station location. Served in a Tulip glass.
Appearance: Hazy gold-amber that was chill haze - went away as the beer warmed up and became more clear. Thick ring of white foam with lots of persistent lacing on the glass.
Smell: Tropical fruit, citrus rind, a tiny bit woody, with a bit of pungency to it.
Taste: Quite hoppy. Citrus, citrus rind, tropical fruit notes, herbal/woody, biscuity malt middle.
Mouthfeel: Good thickness, light carbonation, sticky on the teeth.
Overall / Drinkability: As with all 100% hop type beers - you really get the full depth of this particular hop. I know it has been described as having tropical fruit and passion fruit flavors, but I got a lot of citrus and some tropical fruit, along with herbal/woody/pungent notes that were unusual to have in a beer. Still - quite tasty beer and enjoyable to get that hop profile. Went quite well with the roasted salmon entree, and easily drinkable despite the pungency. I might have tired of a larger glass, but 10oz was just right and I kept coming back to taste more of it....so overall it has good drinkability, just not great drinkability.
