1 quart/1 pint/2.7 ounce (1500 ml) corked & caged bottle, thanks again to Brutaltruth for this one! Stone's website says this was a July 2018 release so let's see how this one aged. Served in a Teku glass, the beer pours a hazy burnt orange color with about an inch light tan head that stayed around for a while. There's also a lot of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like wood, caramel, cacao, vanilla and earthiness. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some herbalness, grainy malt and a smoky flavor noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit creamy and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was a good enjoyable brew, glad for the chance to drink this! Worth trying if there's still some available, I liked it.

From the monster bottle in a snifter. This blessing pours anice
burnt auburn with a decent head of white foam that settles to a
thick ring, thin dusty layer, and displays some nice lacing. Nose of
woodsy barrel, pine, raisin, heavy caramel, and subtle spicy notes.
Flavors exceed the nose with rich caramel and vanilla with a very
nice wooden note from the barrel as well as vinous and raisin touches
amongst a nice bitter hop with touches of herbal and piney elements.
Very nice mouth feel; medium teetering on medium full body, light
carbonation that is just enough to give lift, and a bitter hop and sweet
malt finish that is spicy and moderately dry.

Overall, a treat to have and an endeavor that I wish would of gone further.

Excellent!

Cheers

Everything was as described it should be on the bottle. Could really smell the wood in there...almost like a barbecue it was so strong. I could really do without it being 10.2% ABV, though...just too strong to really enjoy.

L - light, murky amber with orange and brown highlights and throughout with a moderate light tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly leaving behind some lacing and a thin cap
S - Sweet/smoky amburana wood, hints of vanilla and light caramel as well as some bitter hops
T - Complex but incredibly balanced. Hints of vanilla and caramel up front and throughout alongside the sweet/smoky notes of the amburana wood, earthy undertones along with bitter, but subdued hops. A roasted barely and malt backbone tie everything together. Some peat. Some notes of chocolate but not as much as I was expecting.
F - Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation - thick and smooth.
O - the Amburana wood, vanilla, and caramel are the stars in this brew, but overall this is an incredibly complex and well put together beer. Reminds me of arrogant bastard/double bastard slightly.
