16 ounce glass at Stone's Winter Storm today for five dollars, the second most expensive beer on tap for the event
Brewed by one of their fine brewers named Jeremy Moynier
Color was pretty black, could not really see through it when held up to the light, 1/2 inch fluffy and soapy tan head that dissipated pretty fast, some nice lacing though, looked very promising judging by its appearance
Smell was lots of roasted nuttiness, sweet malt, some roasted barley, smokiness, not many sweet scents that are typical of this beer style, some nice chocolate and coffee aromas
Taste was a little weaker than I was hoping but had some nice chocolate and vanilla tastes to go along with the chewy oatmeal, taste did not last long at all unfortunately, that is my biggest complaint about this one, some nice sweet malt and faint dry hoppiness provided a nice balance, hopefully this one is bottled someday, nice and chewy but sweet at the same time, complex stout that was perfect on this cold and rainy day, gave a nice warming sensation
Body was pretty thick with not much carbonation, even though there was a fair amount of small bubbles showing through, nice tingling sensation on the tongue, creamy mouthfeel overall
Could drink a good amount of this because of its smoothness, did not think the alcohol percentage was too high either, probably around six percent if I had to guess, pretty light for the style of beer, taste kept me coming back for more
Thought this would be more special than it was but still pretty good overall, think they were already running low on it when I left the event, only small batches were made for this winter celebration, recommended to anybody that can make it out to Stone in the next week or so, would love to drink again if it is brewed for a second time down the road, nice oatmeal stout from Stone
