In the spirit of all the exploratory missions deployed across the galaxy — be they spacecraft, Viking or other — we’re constantly probing the world of beer back here on Earth. That quest has brought us to this latest creation, which comes from our brewing team at Stone Brewing – Napa. With a subtle haze reminiscent of some far-off nebula, and further complemented with the juicy flavors of Ella and Citra hops, this beer is most definitely out of this world. Crafted to be enjoyed on Earth, but if intelligent life does exist out there, we’re pretty sure they’ll like it too.

DATE: August 15, 2021... OCCASION: another picture-perfect summer day ends with a quality Stone product... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... pours a hazy orange-amber body checked with sediment that supports a half-finger of equally hazy head... thick citrus, dank with peach, grapefruit, tobacco, rose petals, and orange make a robust aroma... a thick, chewy mouthfeel with a long-lasting draw that puckers slightly... a fulfilling, juicy sip, expected of Stone... the flavor profile is a bit mellow at its ABV, with big grapefruit,, dank resin, and orange cream... grape, grass, and caramel balance the intense hop strength... bright, aggressive and a worthwhile nightcap...

12 oz bottle. Pours super cloudy gold with a medium white head. There was noticeable sediment in the bottle and even though I poured gently it’s now in the glass. Aroma: tobacco, leather, citrus. Taste: citrus, straw, caramel. Excellent DIPA.

Pours a hazy orange with thick head and a ton of floaties.
Smell is fruity and a bit sweet with notes of grapefruit, mango, pine and caramel.
Taste is fruity, sweet and in your face with a solid bitterness. Notes of citrus, pine, resin, caramel and sponge cake. Balanced? Yes. Subtle? No.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft and sticky with good carbonation.
Overall, I really like this. Stone gets a lot of crap, but everything I've ever had by them has been damn tasty.

I can appreciate what’s been done here considering I like German beers this has kind of Oktoberfest and dunkel notesBut not what I expected when I heard the word hazy

It smells juicy like pineapple and tangerine with a little bit of malt back there somewhere.
I taste the fruity hops up front and a bitter bite not far behind. That's about it.
It's medium bodied and a little foamy. The finish starts out bitter but a sweet aftertaste lasts a long time.
This is a pretty solid hazy double IPA. I give it a 4.4 out of 6.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is murky copper, head is 1+ fingers thick with frothy top, head lingers well with spotty remnants on glass and a solid top.
Smell is like candied hops - sweet, full, moderately malty - notes of citrus pith, tangerine, light pine, herbs, lemon, melon; malt is neither caramel-like sweet or grainy base like but it provides some backing sweet maltiness.
Taste is sweeter and similarly candied - dried or sweetened citrus, tangerine, with notes of pine, grass, lemon, and melon, neutral malt flavor providing a fuller base sweetness, but not caramel like.
Mouthfeel is well done for as candied sweet as this comes across otherwise - moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness and the right amount to back the sweeter flavors of hops and malt.
Overall thicker, fuller HDIPA but the hop mix and beer construction bring this brew through to the finish.

L: Caramel orange and hazy. Mildly carbonated (Carbonation is often leeched off during longer fermentation processes). Glossy on top.
S: Big tropical hop aroma. Not bitter, but fruity. I'm picking up barley and oats.
T: I guessed 3 hops but reading the bottle says 2. The citra is, well, citra. The ella resembles mosaic--it is more pungent and darkens the color. They got lots of lupulin out of these hops.
F: A layer of deep dank resinous bitter coats the tongue and into the stomach. It's a rather strong flavor.
O: A full strength, but not maximum, IPA.
