Each hop harvest is an opportunity for the mad scientists of the hop industry to introduce their newest experiments. Zumo is a thrilling new hop from the folks at Segal Ranch, named aftera Spanish term for citrus zest. Its vibrant lime characteristic hooked us immediately, and it was time for us to do a little experimentation of our own. We found out that Mosaic hops, when taking a backseat in the recipe for once, truly elevated Zumo’s flavor to monstrous levels of refreshing zestiness. Now we’re certified Zumologists.

I can always depend on Stone for a tasty IPA which is a very balanced IPA. Nothing to me really stands out to be honest. Still I liked it so I appreciate it. Thanks guys!

Poured from a 12 oz. can into one of my tulip glasses, this beer pours a clear, light to medium golden color with some streams of little bubbles rapidly and continuously rising to the beer’s surface. Has a white head that’s about 1/2 an inch thick when first drawn and served with good retention. Settles to some nice cluster swirls of film layer surface foam and nice lacing lining the inside of the glass. Aromas of bready malts along w/ some fruity, zesty, slightly piney hop notes. A very similar flavor profile, with some bready malts, with slightly piney, fruity hop bitterness. Notes of tea, peach, lime, and melon to be sure. A good, refined hop bitterness. Has a crisp, somewhat smooth, slightly frothy, medium bodied mouth feel with light to moderate carbonation. Has a clean, fairly dry finish and all of the flavors linger nicely on my palate in the aftertaste. Quite a nice beer here indeed!

Pours a fairly clear light orange with soft, soapy head.
Smell is fruity with notes of pine, grapefruit, peach and tea.
Taste is fruity and bit boozy. Notes of pine, grapefruit, te, peach and caramel. Moderate bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft and well carbonated.
Overall, a very nice IPA, but a bit boozy.

Picked up a single from the Energy Mart gas station 9-5-24 for $2.19. 7-10-24; enjoy by 11-7-24; consumed for review 10-31-24.
Beer poured chilled golden orange with a very nice white head.
Nose is muted, getting a rind smell along with hints of tropical fruits.
Taste is a moderate sized pale malt base which gives the foundation for the hops to display and i am getting a hint of lime and grapefruit. Finishes with a zest bitterness; 6/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and refreshing.
Overall, not a bad beer after overcoming the nose. Zumo may not be the best choice for an IPA, seems more appropriate with lagers.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is straw gold, hazy but not murky/dense, head is off white and presents one finger thick. Head lingers with solid top, spotty lacing.
Smell is citrus zest, light berry, some biscuit, mixed tropicals.
Taste is similar with the citrus/berry/tropical blend, malt is biscuit, toasty.
Mouthfeel is low carbonation, low/moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness.
Overall a good beer but soft on the bitterness for stated style, but really this is a IPA/NEIPA hybrid.

12oz can served in a tulip glass. Date stamp on bottom of can: PKG 07/10/24 00:51R. EB11/07/24
Appearance: Translucent golden yellow with a hint of amber. Thin white head with persistent fine islands of lacing. Some floating sediment when held up to the light.
Smell: Lime, peach, floral. Remarkably delicate for a Stone brew in aroma.
Taste: Some definite lime up front, good malt sweetness for balance, citrus zest bitterness at the finish.
Mouthfeel: Good thickness, prickly carbonation, a bit sticky on the teeth, smooth, wet finish.
Overall / Drinkability: A sipping and savoring beer given the delicate aroma and the more non-aggressive hop flavor of this AIPA. It's quite well balanced, and I could easily see myself having another one. Fun new hop - we'll have to see who else uses it.

Pours an opaque burnt orange color with a minimal head. Aroma is rather unappealing and a real turn off. Taste is bitter but somewhat fruity as well, I'm not particularly liking this particular hop. definitely not one of my favorite beers from Stone. Glad I tried it, but I won't be buying more beyond the 2 six packs I have. In short, this beer really sucked. I ended up drain pouring a whole 6 pack because I knew there was no way I was ever going to drink it.
