At Arrogant Bastard Brewing Co., we believe that pandering to the lowest common denominator represents the height of tyranny—a virtual form of keeping the consumer barefoot and stupid. Brought forth upon an unsuspecting public in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale openly challenged the tyrannical overlords who were brazenly attempting to keep Americans chained in the shackles of poor taste. As the progenitor of its style, Arrogant Bastard Ale has reveled in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity. There have been many nods to Arrogant Bastard Ale...even outright attempts to copy it...but only one can ever embody the true nature of Liquid Arrogance!

Great beer if you're into 22 ounces of ice cold soy sauce.

A gnarly reddish brown ale very bitter but not to the point of the bitterness being bad. Very well balanced. Looks great in a clear mug. Extreme lacing from alight brown head. Six PINT cans obtained at a great price. This beer just may be a new fav.

Copenhagen 28/5 2017. 50 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Kind of Arrogant looking Devil with a mug of beer - of course - on the label.
Pours hazy ruby with slighty off-white head. Settles as thin transparent layer of foam. No lacing.
Aroma is heavy sweet. Fermented - almost decayed - fruit, sulfur, caramel and very distinct alcohol.
Light carbonation and thick oily palate.
Flavor is quite well balanced. Heavy sweetness followed by aggressive fruity bitterness.
Quite a mouthful - but a pleasant one.

Pours an opaque medium-dark amber with a big fluffy beige head. Smells like caramel and cherry. Tastes like caramel, cream soda, cherry, hint of dark chocolate, and strong medicinal bitterness. Tastes kinda like an amber ale infused with some imperial stout. The bitterness really lingers. Pretty unique and pretty good.

Poured from a fresh 16oz can into a Stone Brewing Pint glass, a deep, dark rust brown color, large one finger head with great active lacing which always brings more action. The nose is malt and toffee.
- This is one of my favorite beers. At somewhere around 100 IBU's the hops are both at the front of the pallet and on the back of your tongue lingering a while afterwards. It is a full bodied DIPA which has very pronounced malt, carmel, and toffee notes that make this beer Zing!
It is not as much of a Summer Session Slammer as it is a Boys' Night Bowling Basher. There is not a lot of alcohol to this drink so you can pound as many of this pleasant pallet puckerer's as you would like.
I LOVE finding special versions of this on tap at Stone Escondido when I'm in town with a few Growlers in tow!
The Double Bastard is another fine variant, but you'd better have a designated driver for that one!

If it wasn't for the prominent bitterness, I could confuse this with a Belgian beer. I find the flavors to be similar until the strong bitter taste kicks in, which is rather quick. It's good though, this doesn't mess around!

Re: American Strong Ales - this one is on the thinner, lower ABV, less sweet end of the spectrum. I like it, but being a sweet/malty lover, I don’t love it.
